We are a one-stop shop for train and coach travel. Every day we bring together routes, fares and journey times from 220 train and coach carriers in 45 countries so our customers can easily buy tickets and save time, hassle or money.

We stay one step ahead, so our customers don’t have to, from making it easier for them to buy the best ticket for their journey to giving them live, personalised travel information on the go via our app.

The first global platform in rail and coach. Our ambition is to bring together the world’s rail, coach and other travel services into one simple experience so travellers can easily find the best prices for their journey and access smart, real-time travel information on the go. We work with more than 220 rail and coach carriers to offer our customers millions of travel options across 45 countries, in Europe and in Asia.

Customers all over the world can book travel in their own language and currency, choosing from 10 currencies and 14 languages available in our app and on our website.

As well as an easy, intuitive booking experience, we aim to offer travellers a smart travel companion for every stage of their journey. Via the app, customers can, where available, access live departure boards, live train tickets, and personalised journey delay and disruption information as they travel.

We currently operate through three business segments:

We sell rail tickets on behalf of all UK rail carriers and coach tickets on behalf of National Express, to customers worldwide. These customers can also benefit from high-quality, relevant recommendations for hotel bookings and insurance. Trainline partners with carefully selected businesses and brands wishing to advertise on its mobile app and website.

Trainline’s International business sells rail tickets to people all over the world on behalf of all the major European rail carriers and offers rail passes in Japan to inbound visitors through its partnership with JTB, and is in advanced discussions with US partners to secure direct distribution agreements for the sale of rail and coach tickets in the United States. The International business also sells coach tickets on behalf of all the major European coach carriers.

The Trainline for Business ("T4B") provides and supports rail booking solutions for thousands of small and medium enterprises (“SMEs”) and many large corporate entities, as well as public sector partners. It provides services to travel management companies who in turn support many businesses in the UK. Additionally, T4B builds, supports and manages “white label” online and mobile sales platforms for many of the UK’s biggest rail carriers, leveraging its proprietary technology to provide rail carriers with a best-in-class product and a lower cost to serve compared to developing their own ticket sales solutions.

Our technology

Around half of our team are software engineers, product managers, researchers and product designers. Our data science and data engineering teams sit at the heart of our company and are charged with developing unique and highly predictive features, driven by data, that save our customers time, hassle and money.
